Broadmead Shopping Area (Merchants Quarter)
Broadmead is the largest shopping centre in the South West. The £500 million expansion and enhancement will lift Bristol into the top ten retail destinations in the UK.
This major mixed-use development will provide for a new flagship department store, 15 major stores and more than 100 new shops, 310,000 sq ft of office floorspace, leisure, restaurants, bars and car parking spaces. There will also be provision of 242 houses, including 24 affordable homes. It will feature dedicated public spaces, including a new square around the historic Quakers Friars area. Approximately 3,000 new jobs will be created as a result of the development.
House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols will be key flagship stores. National Amusements is bringing its revolutionary ‘Cinema de Lux’ - 13 screens featuring the most innovative technology in the industry.
The introduction of a Business Improvement District (BID) will transform the current street scene, including paving and lighting.
The Broadmead Local Supply Initiative (BLSI) aims to raise awareness, amongst local small businesses, of the supply opportunities that will arise from the development and future operation of Broadmead.
