ICT

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can be used in all aspects of running a small business.  Producing professional documents and standard forms, sending and receiving information, research, marketing, keeping customer contact details up-to-date and routine accounting tasks can all be done on a PC.  A database becomes an essential resource when you need to share information with other staff in a growing organisation.

Learndirect offer a range of introductory courses designed to show how ICT can be used in business.  Practical help and advice is available from Bristol's UKOnline centres - use Find Your Nearest...

Business Match can put you in touch with a busines advisor who can help you understand your ICT needs.  Business West provides an ICT advisory service (which may be chargeable).  You can also find a local accredited ICT business advisor who will offer practical suggestions through Technology Means Business.

The Home Office has announced a new virus alert site - ITsafe.  It's designed to provide both home users and small businesses with proven, plain-English advice to help protect computers, mobile phones and other devices from viruses, hackers and other malicious attacks.
