Windmill Hill
Totterdown, Victoria Park and Three Lamps are all part of Windmill Hill ward.
Largely a residential area, this part of Bristol is characterised by Victorian terraces and steep slopes. It is well served with open spaces such as Victoria Park, Perrets Park and Novers Common
The YWCA / YMCA building in Totterdown (now privately owned) has in the past acted as a community centre with leisure facilities and workspace. Windmill Hill City Farm is a popular recreational and educational facility which offers an UK Online Centre and a number of community interest groups. It also provides a creche for local residents.
There is no library or local business support organisation located in Windmill Hill ward, but nearly all the agencies listed under 'Here to help' can provide support to businesses based here. Women can learn new skills in carpentry, DIY and upholstery at the Women's Workshop on the Wells Road and there are links to training and support for Asian women from Silai for Skills through the YWCA.
Windmill Hill ward is close to the city centre and the new Temple Quay and Arena developments lying just south of the river Avon. It is also bounded by the Wells Road and Filwood, Bedminster and Southville wards.
Transport
The City Centre is easily walkable from most parts of Windmill Hill, which is also convenient for local and main line trains from Temple Meads Station. The main bus routes follow the Wells Road or St John's Lane. See www.travelbristol.org
