There is a multi-ethnic community living in Lawrence Hill, which is also an important area for employment.  Old Market is the main gateway between Lawrence Hill and the City Centre.  This ward includes Newtown, St Philip's, Russell Town, the Dings and Barton Hill.  

Local facilities include the Barton Hill Settlement, Community at Heart and the wholesale fruit market as well as the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum.  The Easton Business Centre on Felix Road offers business support and workspace, while Silai for Skills provides training to women in ICT, business skills and sewing crafts.
