The Bristol Arena will be built on land adjacent to Temple Meads station.  It is a £100 million project to create a 10,000 seat multi-purpose indoor arena for music, sports, conferences and events.  The remainder of the site will be redeveloped to create a new mixed-use leisure and entertainment destination in the city.  Funded by the South West RDA and Bristol City Council, the arena is scheduled to open in 2008.  The consortium chosen to lead the project are SMG (Europe) and Orion Land and Leisure, with Bellway and Sir Robert McAlpine.
